I provide a wide range of writing, editing, and design services, not only for the Web but also for print media. I have a BA in journalism, with a minor in graphic design, plus additional courses in computer science, drafting, and photography.
I was trained to plan and manage publishing projects of all kinds and to write in a wide range of styles—from advertising copywriting to technical writing. Then I went out into the world and made it my business to get the widest variety of experience possible. All that experience serves my clients.
Social Media Management and Community Management
Social media management and community management are similar but not identical. The two fields are not mutually exclusive; they overlap. Social Media Management is a broad term, covering a host of interactive online sites and blogs. Community management is both broader in scope and in some ways more focused.
I do both social media management and community management, and I’ll be happy to discuss your needs and help you decide where to start on one or both. I can also help you organize your existing accounts to create a consistent, positive image for yourself and your business.
SEO and Local Search Domination
Search engine optimization (SEO) has become another buzzword, but it is real, and it is essential if you have a website. Otherwise, your site could sit unnoticed by the search engines for years.
Local search domination is my term for a practice that encompasses SEO but takes it much further for local businesses. This field is so new that it is not even a buzzword yet—except in Internet marketing, where it is referred to (from the salesman’s point of view) as off-line marketing.
Web Copywriting and Information Architecture
I wrote my first website in 1995, using skills honed by years of writing advertising and PR ad, commercials, and feature articles. I have written sales copy for the home page of large commercial websites, reorganized large sites that were not working well, and written whole corporate websites from scratch.
I have many years of experience in organizing large amounts of complex information so that it is easy to understand and use. I was trained to write clearly and simply in whatever style is needed. And that’s what I do.
Whether you are selling highly technical IT services. luxury consumer goods, or hamburgers and french fries, I write for your specific audience in terms they understand. I know how to organize information the way your audience wants to find it. And I write so that they take the actions you want.
Blogs and Blog Posts
Blogs are now almost essential to doing business on line. Customers expect interactivity. They want constant news, tips, advice and a place to leave feedback in the form of comments. And blogs are now a major component of SEO.
I design and build blogs, including custom headers and graphics, and maintain them. I currently host and maintain about 50 WordPress sites.
I also write blog content for clients. I host and maintain a completely turnkey site with posts and pages written in your voice. Or I can write posts and deliver them to you to approve, modify (if you wish), and post yourself. Or we can agree on any combination of services, such as my making regular posts and you posting whenever you want to.

Web Design and Graphics
I design websites and blogs to enhance your message. I can create custom illustrations, logos, headers and background graphics for you, or I can work with the ones you have or with your agency or design studio. For large jobs I hire and manage a design studio, depending on client needs and budget.
Technical Publications
I write user guides, white papers, technical manuals, operating procedures, disaster recovery plans, proposals, and a host of other technical publications for clients. And I write them all to be useful and persuasive to their specific audience, as needed.
I make technical publications as clear, simple, attractive and easy to read as possible so that people are more likely to actually read and follow them. For example, the best procedure in the world is useless if people find it to hard to read or understand and do not follow it.
I also create templates for books, manuals, reports, and procedures that you can reuse in your business so that your publications have a clean, attractive, consistent look.
